Grounded Workshop - A Clay, Community & Connection Project
The Grounded Workshop Is Here!
We’re very excited to finally open registrations for Grounded, a free eight-week introduction to ceramics at the Sanctuary Point Community Arts Cottage.
This is a project we’ve been looking forward to sharing with our community, and one that brings together so much of what Bay & Basin Bush Potters is about: creativity, learning, connection and having a welcoming place to belong.
We’re incredibly grateful that Grounded is proudly supported by the Shoalhaven City Council Community Wellbeing Grant Program, making it possible for us to offer the entire eight-week program completely free to participants, including clay, materials, glazing and firing.
What is Grounded?
Starting Saturday 19 September, participants will join us each Saturday evening from 5:00pm to 8:30pm for eight weeks of getting their hands into clay and learning the basics of hand-building pottery.
We’ll work through the process together, from shaping and building with clay to surface decoration, underglazing, glazing and firing.
Our main creative project will be a self-portrait inspired ceramic piece or pieces. There will be plenty of freedom to interpret the idea in your own way, so we’re looking forward to seeing just how different everyone's creations become!
And at the end of the program, we'll bring the finished works together in a special Grounded exhibition. π€
Never tried pottery? Perfect!
Grounded has been created especially for people who are new to pottery, so absolutely no previous experience is needed.
The program will focus on hand-building rather than the pottery wheel, and our Bush Potters volunteers will be there to help you learn, experiment and enjoy the process.
More importantly, we want Grounded to be a relaxed and welcoming space where people can meet others, try something creative and enjoy being part of our local community.
All are welcome and accepted here. If you have an accessibility concern or there is something we can do to help you participate comfortably, please get in touch. As a volunteer-run group and studio, we'll do our best to accommodate individual needs.
